The Lancia Stratos High Fidelity, or the Lancia Stratos as it was more commonly known, was a high performance sports and rally car built by Italian automaker Lancia. Produced for only a short time, the Lancia Stratos was a very successful rally car, winning the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975, and 1976. It also secured victories in three straight Monte Carlo Rally races, in 1975, 1976, and 1977. It continued to win rallies as late as 1979. The Lancia Stratos ushered in the dawn of a new era, as it was the first car built from scratch for the express purposes of rally racing. In 2010 the New Stratos was announced, produced by Pininfarina. The car made use of a Ferrari F430 Scuderia as a donor car, causing Ferrari to forbid it suppliers from supporting the project.
