The Bugatti Type 57, later sold in Atlantic and Atlante variants, was one of the most gorgeous cars ever designed. Designed by Jean Bugatti, son of the company’s founder Ettore, the Type 57 is not a racer but a sleek, stylish grand tourer that combined class and aesthetic appeal in an unmatched fashion. The cars were popular in their time and remain highly coveted today. In 2009, a rediscovered Type 57 sold for 3.4 million euros at auction. American philanthropist and fashion designer Ralph Lauren boosts an impressive collection of high-end original Type 57s, including a supercharged T57 SC that is worth $40 million. Those familiar with the fictional detective Dick Tracy will recognize his sexy ride as a yellow Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic.
