The Silver Ghost is a luxury sedan produced by Rolls-Royce for nearly twenty years. Originally the car was named the 40/50hp. It was a specific variation which was named the “Silver Ghost”, chassis number 60551, registered AX 201. Other 40/50hps were given names as well, but the Silver Ghost name was picked up by the press and stuck. Soon all 40/50hps were being called Silver Ghosts, a fact that Rolls-Royce themselves refused to recognized until 1926. The Silver Ghost had power, smooth handling, and a prestigious appearance. It was called by some the best car in the world. It was also a finalist for the Car of the Century Award.
