The minivan platform has evolved through generations. Offering comfort and responsive handling, the minivan became an icon of soccer moms and dads tasked with lugging a handful kids and their gear around. In many ways the minivan surpassed the station wagon as the ideal family vehicle, offering a greater number of seats and hatch storage. Many models have removable seats, making them easy to convert into a hauling vehicle. Chrysler has manufactured minivans under the Chrysler, Dodge, and now Volkswagen name plates. It is a niche market that Chrysler has dominated.
