The Lexus LS (Luxury Sedan) is a full-sized luxury sedan produced by Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus. The LS series has seen four generations, serving as Lexus’s flagship model. The LS underwent a five year design and development process beginning in 1983. The luxury sedan was intended for export markets, with Toyota’s new Lexus division formed to market the vehicle. Through several iterations, the LS continues to be the best selling flagship luxury sedan in the United States. The original model, the LS 400 debuted strongly in foreign markets, launching the new Lexus marque to success. It proved that Japan could build luxury sedans capable of competing with German engineering at a lower cost. LS Series cars have won a ton of international awards and accolades, making it one of the most successful luxury lines in automotive history.
