From its inception Cadillac has sought to offer precision craftsmanship and luxury. In 1906 it had designed and produced the first fully-enclosed car. But its 1908 model helped set new bars for the auto industry. Cadillac participated in the 1907 interchangeability test in the United Kingdom. There it won the Dewar Trophy for most important advancement of the year in automobiles. It was the first car with truly interchangeable parts. It was named the “Standard of the World.” Only the most precision craftsmanship could manage such a feat and the advancement gave us the modern car industry we all know and love.
