The Nissan Skyline GT-R was the flagship vehicle for Nissan performance up until 2002 when it was retired. Nicknamed “Godzilla” the Skyline was a powerhouse of a vehicle, popular for drag racing, circuit track, time attack, and drift competitions. The third, fourth, and fifth generation Skylines were the most popular models produced. The third generation (labeled R32) was powered by a twin turbo 2.6 liter engine that produced 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle utilized and all-wheel drive system. The fourth generation (labeled R33) used an identical engine setup, but had minor tweaks to correct previous problems with the vehicle. Specifically the weak oil pump drive collar that would fail in high power applications. The fifth and best generation (labeled R34) also used the same engine, but featured suspension upgrades, style upgrades and had a LCD multifunction display on the dashboard that showed various engine readings. The Fast and Furious franchise frequently features a heavily modified Nissan Skyline as one of the lead characters cars.
