The Datsun 240z ( also known as the Nissan Fairlady Z and the Nissan S30) was the first generation of the Z GT two seat coupe that is so popular today. Under the hood of the 240z was a 146 cubic inch six-cylinder engine fed by twin Hitachi SU-type carburetors. The engine was capable of 151 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. The suspension was comprised of MacPherson struts in the front and Chapman struts in the rear. The 240z remains popular among tuners, with common conversions replacing the engine with Nissan Skyline engines or even small-block V8 engines. Body modifications are also very popular, with everything from front air dams and spoilers to wide fender kits and convertible conversions available for the vehicle.
