12. Do Not Be Afraid to Say No

Before taking that first trip to the dealer, do not be afraid to say no to a purchase. Auto dealers are in the business to make money. Take the time to plan what automobile is right for one’s needs and then determine what the maximum amount of money can be spent to fit inside of the budget. Once these limits are set, do not deviate from the purchase plan once at the auto dealer. If the car salesman will not negotiate on the purchase price, then simply walk away. Many times, if the salesman does have the leeway to deal with the consumer on price, they will find a middle ground instead of letting a shopper walk away.
