10. The Google Driverless Car May Be Out as Early as 2015

The future for self-driving cars will be here sooner than most think. Google is on record stating that the company intends to launch their first autonomous car for the market during calendar year 2015. The first beta test of the autos will be a small fleet of approximately 200 vehicles in Detroit, Michigan. After conducting significant testing of the Google Car (more than 700,000 miles), the company has selected the heartland of U.S. automotive manufacturing as the initial test-bed for the largest scale deployment of driverless autos yet. As Google makes their first large deployment of the vehicle, experts expect additional manufacturers to start to enter the self-driving market soon after Google’s initial deployment. Google has not announced what the top speed of the 2015 Google Car will be, so it will be interesting to see what the final specs of the beta test car will be when the company announces the information in the later portions of 2015.
