After the war, Ford released the Ford Custom. The vehicle was a departure from the commonly seen design elements of vehicles at the time, forgoing fat fenders and running boards for sleek styling and curves. The Custom paved the way for styling designs for cars for the next 30+ years. The second generation of the Ford Custom added to the designs of the previous generation, keeping the sleek body lines and adding a long hood with a gorgeous front end. The Custom was a bottom rung model, catering to fleet buyers, but the design of the vehicle inspired the high class models in Ford’s stable. A 1971 Ford Custom appeared in the Burt Reynolds film White Lightning and is likely the most well known custom ever.
