A 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe sold for $9,800,000 USD at auction on November 17, 1987 at Christie’s in London, England. The auto is one of the most expensive cars sold at auction to date despite occurring almost 20 years ago. Also known as the Bugatti Type 41, the car was designed as a luxury automobile, and featured a 12.7 liter, 12,763 cc, V-8 engine. The vehicle is 21 feet long and has a 169.3 inch wheelbase making it one of the largest cars in the world. There were six of the vehicles made; however, only three were sold due to the ongoing ‘Great Depression.’
