9. Dumb and Dumber
Dumb and Dumber took us a journey with two idiots across country from Providence, Rhode Island to Aspen, Colorado as they attempted to return a briefcase full of money to its owner. Along the way they are pursued by a group of criminals who are after the money. Curious methods of conveyance include a fan decked out to look like a giant dog and an awkward two-person moped ride. The crude humor and idiotic antics defined the popular comedy film style of the era. There isn’t much nuance but the movie is genuinely funny. Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels play off of each other well in what is truly a buddy road trip film with slapstick idiocy. There was apparently a sequel at some point but I don’t think anyone cared…
