10. Rain Man

When Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman are paired up in this award winning drama, they give new meaning to the term ‘odd-couple.’ When Charlie Babbitt (Cruise) discovers he has an autistic brother he never knew about he sets about obtaining legal custody. Babbitt doesn’t really care about his brother, Raymond, he’s more interested in the millions of dollars their father left Raymond for his care. Because Raymond is afraid of flying, the two set off across the country in their father’s 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible. The beautiful car is a source of contention for Charlie, especially when he discovers Raymond as allowed to drive it as a boy. During the trip Charlie discovers Raymond has amazing counting and recall abilities and hatches a scheme to make money in Vegas. In the end Charlie learns it is wrong to exploit Raymond and he returns happily to his care facility.
