The Imperial suffered because it was the wrong car at the wrong time. Just as the financial crisis of 2007 was starting, Chrysler unveiled a lavishly expensive concept car that looked like a less expensive copy of the Phantom. The vehicle was beautiful, with a long hood and front end dominated by a massive grille. The brushed and polished aluminium pods mimicked freestanding headlamps, a classic throwback to 1960’s Chryslers. The rear LED taillights even used the “gun sight” look from the early 1960’s Imperials. Sadly the vehicle was too expensive and too excessive for the market at the time. Some thought it was the best of the show, while many others chastised it as overpriced and being too similar to other high end luxury sedans.
