6. Be Leery about Dropping off the Rental Car without a Final Inspection

It has become increasingly popular for car rental agencies to have customers drop the rental car off without the customer being present for the final inspection of the vehicle as a convenience measure. Unfortunately, this service option leaves the consumer open to abuse or false claims of damage being made against them by the car rental agency. Most of the serious complaints by consumers against rental agencies in the recent past has been for unnecessary or excessive damage claims. If your service contract does not make it easy to turn the vehicle over to a company representative, then the next best thing is to take pictures and video via one’s smart phone at the drop off to give yourself ammo against the company if they do claim damage to the vehicle.
