5. Towing Package

A common dealer upgrade for new trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and Jeeps is a towing package. The auto salesman is well-versed in explaining, educating, and then selling shoppers on the utility of being able to tow trailers, boats, and more for the new auto shopper. Whether one already owns a boat and plans to use the new vehicle to tow it, or you have never towed anything before, buying the towing package form the dealer is not the most cost effective solution. Most of the time, the dealer will use this as an opportunity to take additional profit well beyond the true cost of installing the trailer hitch and supporting electrical runs for the trailer to the auto. If a towing package is truly needed, then finding a quality, third-party Installation Company in one’s local area is the best route to go if time permits after the purchase of the automobile.
