7. Mad Max’s Car

Titled the Pursuit Special in the film, Mad Max’s car was really a 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe. The car began as a standard white 1973 Ford Falcon, but underwent some creative revisions at the hands of the movies’ producers. They modified the nosecone, replacing it with one made of fiberglass, and fitted the vehicle with 8 individual exhaust pipes. A non-function supercharger was added for effect, protruding out through the car’s bonnet. The car was revived for Mad Max 2, which had a considerably larger budget than the first movie. The car was further modified, but was also purposely made to look more used, worn, and stressed. A duplicate car was used for the scene which required the car to be destroyed, sparing the original for posterity.
