The 1968 American crime/police drama Bullitt featured action star Steve McQueen as Frank Bullitt, driving a 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT 2+2 Fastback. The movie really showcased the second generation Mustang, the uncredited supporting star of the film. The movie features a now classic car chase scene which revolutionized Hollywood car chases and set the bar for future films. That chase scene is regarded as one of the greatest ever. The scene helped Editor Frank P. Keller to win the Academy Award for Best Editing. Two Mustangs were used to film the famous scene, both provided by Ford Motor Company with heavily modified engines, brakes, and suspensions by veteran race Max Balchowsky. Ford also supplied two Galaxie sedans for the chase scene, but they proved to be too heavy for the jumps over the hills of San Francisco.
