11. The Salesman is Not Your Friend

If a salesman is good at his job, he’ll quickly make you feel comfortable and friendly. This is a sales tactic: If you feel like you can trust him, you’ll be more likely to accept whatever price he offers.

Keep a cool head, and don’t lose sight of what you’re there for. Don’t let a friendly salesperson distract you from the facts, and don’t be guilt-tripped into accepting something you don’t want. If necessary, bring a friend along who can keep you on track if you start to waver.
