16. Volvo S90

It’s been awhile since Volvo has introduced a new vehicle. If anything the company has spent the last few years dropping models from its line-up. After unveiling the S90 at the Detroit auto show, it looks like the dark times might be over for Volvo. The S90 shares its powertrain with the XC90, but this new sedan is making large strides in the automated driving and collision detection fields. The Pilot Assist from the XC90 has been upgraded in the S90. In the XC90 the system could steer the car at low speeds and only if the driver had a hand on the steering wheel. The S90 is able to control the car at speeds up to 80 mph and can guide the car by using lane markings and doesn’t need to lock onto the car ahead. The S90 also comes standard with Volvo’s City Safety system and it can for the first time recognize and react to large animals as well as pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.
