8. Dodge Lil’ Red Express

The last American Hot Rod to roll off the assembly line in the last 1970’s was the Dodge Lil’ Red Express. What made the Lil’ Red Express unique was not only its looks, but the fact that it was the fastest American made vehicle from zero to one hundred mph. Due to a loophole in emissions regulations, the Lil’ Red Express didn’t have a catalytic convertor, giving it a little more power due to a less restrictive exhaust. The engine was a High Performance 360 C.I. 4-barrel small block, which was a modified version of the 360 police engine producing 225 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Lil’ Red Express had a quarter-mile time of 14.7 seconds.
