Although torque-vectoring technology is not new to high-performance cars, it has long been too hard (or costly) to implement the technology on SUVs. The Buick Envision and GMC Arcadia both feature a torque-vectoring rear axle marking a big move of the tech into the SUV/Crossover segment of the market. The overall goal of the new technology is to reduce the overall speed of the inside of the wheel while maximizing the amount of torque that is transferred to the outside portion of the wheel. Both the Envision and Arcadia use the tech to help keep the auto on track when driving the vehicle in inclement weather and deliver an overall more secure feeling to the vehicle driver.
