5. Jeep Wrangler

Starting price: $24,190

Although the Jeep Wrangler at first seems like a ‘no brainer’ for parents looking for a first car for their teenagers with the low entry-level price, it does pose a number of traps for teenagers who are new to driving. The auto can be extremely prone to flipping over and rolling if taking corners too quickly, and it also gets below average on the fuel economy ratings. If your child is experienced with driving off-road before getting their license, it may make more sense to get the auto for them, but only in those limited cases. The Wrangler is powered by a 3.6 liter V-6 engine that is rated at 285 horsepower, and it gets a 17 MPG (city) and 21 MPG (highway) fuel efficiency rating. The top overall speed of the car is 114 MPH which is a bit north of what most parents want teens to be able to drive on the highways around the United States.
