The Audi A3 gets reasonable gas mileage, with an EPA estimated 31 mpg city and 43 mpg highway. A 170-hp 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, with front wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission are standard. No manual transmission is offered. A 220 horsepower four-cylinder engine with all-wheel drive is optional, for a higher price and if you’re willing to sacrifice gas mileage. The steering is precise, with no numb spots in the wheel, giving superior control over the vehicle. The suspension is tuned for a luxury car, with the soul of a sports car. Road imperfections are not noticed at all when traveling rough roads, and there is no discernible body roll around sharp corners.
